Habu Gumel Invites Nigerians To Olympic Marathon Walk Scheduled For July 12

Engr. Habu Ahmed Gumel, the President of the Nigerian Olympic Committee (NOC), will sponsor the Olympic Walk as part of the annual Nigeria Engineering Games, reports BSNSports.com.ng.

The event is set to take place on July 12, 2025, in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja. In a statement to the press in Abuja, Gumel expressed his expectations for good attendance at this year's event.

"I would like to see no fewer than 250 participants at this year's walk. I invite people of all ages to come out, have fun, and use this walk to stay fit," he said.

He also noted that for the first time, the Chairman and the Director-General of the National Sports Commission (NSC), Mallam Shehu Dikko and Bukola Olapade respectively, will join him in leading the walk.

Gumel emphasized that participants will use the event to promote a healthy lifestyle and maintain physical fitness.

As a former president of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, he encouraged all interested individuals to gather for the flag-off of the Walk at 8 AM at the Nigerian Society of Engineers Headquarters, located off Labour House Road/National Mosque Road, CBD, Abuja.
