Confederation of African Handball has explained the reason the North African country Morocco was stripped of the hosting right of the 2022 championship, BSNsports.com.ng can report
This decision to withdraw is the consequence of the great diplomatic tensions between the two Morocco and Algeria. Last September, Algeria decided to boycott the competition because it was to be played partly in the city of Laâyoune, located in Western Sahara, a territory with disputed status.
After having announced, a few days ago, the withdrawal of the organization of the 25th and 26th editions of the African Cup of Nations of the events from the two North African countries, Morocco and Algeria, the Confederation of African Handball is looking for a new host for the 25th edition.
14 nations including Nigeria have validated their tickets for this competition which is scheduled for July 11 to 22, 2022.
These are Algeria, Angola, Cameroon, DR Congo, Egypt, Gabon, Senegal, Cape Verde, Morocco, Guinea, Nigeria, Tunisia, Zambia and Kenya.
