Hard Rockers, Mark Town Flyers Record Wins As Sam Ogwuche Basketball Tourney Dunk off In Abuja

Hard Rockers, 313 Warriors and Mark Town Flyers won their games on Match day of the Sam Ogwuche Basketball Invitational Tournament held at the Mo Arena, Wuse Zone 5, Abuja, BSNSports.com.ng can report.
Hard Rockers defeated Bulldogs 80-75 in the competition opener before Defenders basketball team fell to 313 Warriors (78-70) in the second match. Plateau Peaks efforts to pick first win were not enough as Mark Town basketball team overpowered the Jos based youth team to record the third win on Day One.
The organiser, elated Sam Ogwuche said ths year's Third edition of the championship which started on Monday is aimed at producing basketball stars that will make the country proud.
Speaking with journalists at the event, he said, "It's an annual basketball grassroots program, I had the same edition last year in Lagos and this time we come to Abuja to give back to the youth. The aim is to give a platform to youthful players to be able to achieve their potentials.
"This is the third edition we are having this year with eight participating teams in total.
He continued, "What keeps the annual competition going is the support I got from personal friends. I am impressed with the number of basketball players that have made it to higher places in their careers. I see some of the players that have left my camp making it really good
"There are many things we still need to do for development of this game. I know we can do better by getting some facilities in place. However, the future of basketball in Nigeria is bright."
