Heartland, Akwa United Join Sunshine Stars, Lobi In Relegation To NNL As 2024/25 NPFL Season Ends

Heartland FC have been relegated to the lower division of Nigeria football cadre despite beating Akwa United in their final league game of the season, BSNSports.com.ng reports. 

The Naze Millionaires, who were relegated for the fourth time in the last decade had never been relegated in their history before 2016. 

Akwa United also joined the Naze Millionaires to the Nigeria National League after a poor season under series of coaches during the course of the campaign. 

Meanwhile, Shooting Stars ended the season with an emphatic 5-1 win over former champions, Rangers International while Ikorodu City beat Abia Warriors 3-2 in Lagos. 

At the end of the 2024/25 NPFL season, Remo Stars emerged champions while Rivers United and Abia Warriors finished second and third to pick the other continental spots. 

Meanwhile, Lobi Stars, Sunshine Stars, Heartland FC and Akwa United got relegated to the NNL.
