Heartland Face Transfer Ban Threat Over N6.4M Uzor Compensation

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has directed Heartland FC to pay N6.4 million in compensation to coach Charles Uzor for the unlawful termination of his contract, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The decision was delivered by the NFF Players’ Status and Arbitration Committee following a review of submissions from both parties.

Uzor had signed a two-year contract with the Nigeria National League (NNL) side on August 1, 2024, reportedly earning N700,000 per month. However, his appointment was terminated on June 11, 2025, without what the committee determined to be just cause or adherence to due process.

The coach initially sought N8.4 million, representing the value of his remaining contract. After deliberation, the committee awarded N6.4 million as compensation and ordered Heartland FC to settle the sum within 45 days of receiving the ruling.

The NFF further warned that failure to comply with the directive would result in a transfer and player registration ban against the club.

The ruling underscores the federation’s commitment to upholding contractual obligations and maintaining professional standards within Nigerian football.
