Swedish media, Hearts is set to battle an Israeli club for Nigerian centre-forward Johnbosco Kalu, who currently plays for Värnamo, as sourced by BSNSports.com.ng.

The Scottish Premiership club is looking to strengthen its squad during the current transfer window after facing challenges in the league this season.

They are currently involved in a relegation battle following a disappointing first half of the season.

Fotboll Direkt has reported on Hearts' pursuit of Kalu as they aim to bolster their attacking options this month.

Värnamo is reportedly asking for around £400,000 for the 27-year-old striker, but Hearts are likely to encounter competition for his signature.

The Swedish media outlet has mentioned that the Israeli club Beitar Jerusalem has already made an offer to acquire Kalu, but it was rejected due to being insufficient.

Kalu is reportedly eager to find a new club, which may prompt both Hearts and Beitar Jerusalem to intensify their pursuit of him during this transfer window.

In the recently concluded Allsvenskan season, Kalu made 17 appearances, scoring seven goals and providing one assist. He is under contract with Värnamo until December 2026.
