Hertha BSC Confirm Deal for Nigerian-Born Ex-Burnley  Striker

Hertha BSC have officially completed the signing of Nigerian forward Oluwaseun Adewumi from Burnley on a season-long loan, making the 21-year-old the club's first acquisition of the summer transfer window, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The move follows reports from Sky Germany earlier on Wednesday that an agreement had been reached between the two clubs, with the Bundesliga 2 outfit now confirming the deal.

Adewumi remains under contract with Burnley until 2028. Neither club has revealed whether the loan agreement includes an option to make the transfer permanent at the end of the season.

The young attacker spent the 2025–26 campaign on loan at Belgian side Cercle Brugge, where he scored six goals in 33 appearances across all competitions. His performances earned him valuable first-team experience as he continued his development.

Welcoming the new signing, Hertha sporting director Benjamin Weber praised Adewumi's versatility and potential.

"We are delighted that we were able to sign Oluwaseun. Despite his young age, he has already gained valuable experience in different competitions and is capable of playing in several attacking roles. He will enhance our game with his versatility, pace and dynamism."

Adewumi has already joined his new teammates at Hertha's pre-season training camp as preparations intensify ahead of the new campaign.

The Austrian youth international will now look to establish himself in Berlin and make an immediate impact as Hertha aim for a strong season in the 2026–27 campaign.
