Hervé Renard Set To Resign As Tunisia Coach After World Cup 2026 Exit

Hervé Renard is reportedly on the verge of stepping down as head coach of the Tunisian national team following the Carthage Eagles’ final Group F match against the Netherlands at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

According to multiple Tunisian media outlets, the 57-year-old French manager is expected to announce his resignation after Tunisia’s last group-stage fixture on June 25.

 The move would mark Renard’s second abrupt departure from the North African side.

Renard was appointed mid-tournament in a desperate bid to salvage Tunisia’s campaign after a poor start. 

However, the team failed to respond, suffering heavy defeats that led to their early elimination. 

Tunisia opened with a 5-1 loss to Sweden and followed it with a 4-0 thrashing by Japan, becoming the first African nation to exit the competition.

The reported decision comes despite Renard’s strong reputation across the continent. 

He is widely regarded as one of Africa’s most successful coaches, having led both Zambia and Ivory Coast to Africa Cup of Nations titles.

Tunisia’s disappointing group-stage performance has left fans and officials frustrated, with many questioning the timing and impact of Renard’s mid-tournament appointment. 

His potential exit would close another chapter in what has been a turbulent campaign for the Carthage Eagles at World Cup 2026.
