The Netherlands secured top spot in Group F of the FIFA World Cup 2026 with a comfortable 3-1 victory over Tunisia in their final group-stage match at Kansas City Stadium on Thursday, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The Oranje completed the group phase unbeaten with two wins and a draw to finish on seven points, while Tunisia exited the tournament at the bottom of the standings after failing to record a victory.

Ronald Koeman's side wasted little time asserting their dominance, taking the lead in just the third minute. Denzel Dumfries delivered a dangerous low cross into the penalty area, and Tunisia captain Ellyes Skhiri inadvertently diverted the ball into his own net while attempting to clear the danger.

The Dutch doubled their advantage four minutes later. Following a corner kick, Virgil van Dijk kept the ball alive inside the six-yard box before teeing up Brian Brobbey, who calmly converted from close range for his third goal of the tournament.

The early double gave the Netherlands complete control of the contest, with Frenkie de Jong and Tijjani Reijnders dictating the tempo in midfield as Tunisia struggled to create clear-cut opportunities before the interval.

Tunisia emerged with greater intent after the restart and reduced the deficit in the 54th minute. Hazem Mastouri rose above the Dutch defence to power home a header from Hannibal Mejbri's corner, briefly raising hopes of a comeback.

However, the Netherlands restored their two-goal cushion just eight minutes later. Reijnders delivered another well-placed corner, and defender Jan Paul van Hecke headed home from close range to score his first international goal and effectively end Tunisia's resistance.

The Dutch comfortably controlled possession in the closing stages, denying Tunisia any further opportunities as they wrapped up an impressive victory to confirm their status as Group F winners.

The result ensured the Netherlands advanced to the Round of 32 as group winners with seven points. Japan and Sweden also progressed after playing out a 1-1 draw in the group's other fixture, while Tunisia finished bottom with just one point from three matches.
