Hoops & Read Beat Deepbond To Emerge 2024 Eko Basketball League Champions

The city of Lagos witnessed an electrifying conclusion to the inaugural edition of the Eko Basketball League, as Hoops & Read basketball team emerged victorious, defeating Deepbond 66-63 in a heart-stopping final match, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
The National Stadium Complex in Lagos was abuzz with excitement as basketball enthusiasts gathered to witness the thrilling finale.
In the preliminary, a total of 112 games were played at two facilities: Rowe Park Sports Centre in Yaba and Dolphins Basketball Court in Agege. During the regular season, Hoops & Read finished at the top of the standings, followed by Comets and Deepbond in the second and third positions.
However, in the regular season, six teams qualified for the playoffs: Hoops & Read, Comets, Deepbond, Dodan Warriors, Raptors, and LXB. After the playoff games, Hoops & Read and Deepbond advanced to the final, while Comets and Dodan Warriors competed for third place.
In the third-place match, Ebun Comets defeated Dodan Warriors to secure the third-place position in the league. In the final game, defending champions Hoops & Read retained their title by defeating DeepBond to remain the champions of the state's premier league for the season.
The Eko Basketball League is the premier league for elite teams in Lagos State, organized by the Lagos State Basketball Association. The league started on Sunday, July 21, 2024, with eight participating teams: Comets, Hoops & Read, Dodan Warriors, Police Baton, LXB, Deepbond, Raptors, and Heat Kings.
Best 5 players of the league include: Tolani Buhari (Hoops & Read), Clinton (Hoops & Read), Victor Sunday (Deep Bond), Karim Joseph (Hoops & Read), Francis Anekwe (Comets) while Victor Sunday (Deep Bond) won the Most Valuable Player award.
