How Dozy Mmobuosi N100m Prize Money Caused Problem For 3SC - Mgt

One of the top management of Shooting Stars Sports Club of Ibadan (3SC) has attributed the team's poor run of form to the One hundred million naira (N100m) prize money they received for emerging champions of the Dozy Mmobuosi Invitational Super Cup in Lagos, BSN sports.com.ng can reveal.

3SC defeated former African champions Enyimba FC 3-2 in the final of the tournament which also featured two other NPFL clubs: Bendel Insurance and Rangers of Enugu.

A top management of the Oluyole Warriors who pleaded anonymity said the team's problem started when they arrived Ibadan immediately after the tourney and met with supporters, fans and Ibadan indigenes celebrating with the team victory while few people among them demanded for their share.

"We never knew we were playing with fire. If we knew, we wouldn't have won the tournament. We regret emerging champions of the preseason tournament because all efforts to convince them the money belonged to the state government fell on deaf ear.

" When we told them (some fans and supporters who demanded for money) that the money belongs to the State Government, they never believed and promised to frustrate the team's target for the season.

"We didn't realized how serious it was until when we struggled to draw matches at home. In the season's first match in Plateau, we were leading with two goals before we lost the two goals lead few minute to the end of the match. Same thing happened at home. Before now it was always in the second half but now, opponents scored in the early minutes in our home matches, we then struggled to equalised.

"If you noticed, one guy who was suspended by the IMC went and peed on the pitch, he did that as an antidote to their 'juju'. We thought that will kill off the bad luck on the home ground but what followed that day was even worse. Early goal was scored against us, we had to come back to draw 2-2, we got fined and the guy banned for one year.

"All hopes are not lost, we will do the needful before the commencement of the second round. And I believe, everything will work out well for Shooting Stars.

3SC are placed 7th on the log in an Abridged League of ten teams with 10 points in 9 games. They won two, drew four and lost three matches.
