Remo Stars would have earned their first victory in this season's Nigeria Premier Football League play-off with 2-1 had the head coach, Daniel Ogunmodede did what is expected of an experienced coach, reports BSNSports.com.ng.
In football, anything can happen until final whistle is blown by the centre referee. Remo Stars on Monday evening came from 0-1 down to score two successful goals over their match-day 2 opponents, Rivers United but inexperience on the part of the coach cost them the jubilation that would have taken over less than one minute before the referee sounded his whistle for the end of the match.
Nyima Nwagua had put the defending champions ahead in the 16th minute but Lekan Adebayo leveled the scoreline in the 71st minute.
Drama started Remo Stars midfielder, Lukman Adefemi long range shot beat everyone including Rivers United goalkeeper, Victor Sochima to help his to a deserved lead in the 97th minute.
While the players were jubilation mood, Remo Stars coach, Ogunmodede ran into the field and took over the show, jubilating and beating his chest as if he was the goal scorer. If he was not carried away, he supposed at that time pass message to the players not to lose concentration and should remain firm for the next one minute. But the lead got into their heads and few seconds later, the defending champions equalised at the death bringing the scoreline to 2-2.
