Super Eagles red hot striker, Victor Osimhen, showed he's got thick skin as he didn't react negatively after being racially abused by Hellas Verona fans on Monday night, reports BSNSports.com.ng.
The Nigerian seemed to aim his provocative celebration toward Verona fans who had been racially abusing him after he scored and provided an assist in Napoli's 5-2 pummeling of their team.
The bitter history between the sets of fans is no secret, nor is the Hellas Verona fanbase’s reputation for racist elements.
After scoring on the stroke of half-time to turn the game around from 1-0 to 1-2, Osimhen kicked the ball into the stands in anger at the Verona supporters who had been making monkey noises.
According to Sportitalia, that prompted even more abuse, so the Nigeria international mocked them by pretending to cry into the camera.
Luciano Spalletti was delighted with Napoli‘s against Hellas Verona.
The Partenopei started the season on the right foot, sealing a comfortable 5-2 win away at Hellas Verona at the Stadio Bentegodi.
Napoli host Monza at the Stadio Maradona in the second match of the season next week. Their third game is away at Fiorentina on Sunday, August 28.
