Hyperbuzz FC of Abuja were crowned champions of the 2025 MTN NLO Cup after edging JNR Danburan FC of Katsina 6–5 on penalties in a pulsating final at the Bwari Stadium, Abuja, BSNSports.com.ng reports. 

The keenly contested encounter ended 2–2 after regulation time.

Both sides delivered a high-quality performance befitting the occasion, showcasing composure, technical ability, and resilience in a match filled with drama and near misses.

JNR Danburan opened the scoring in the 43rd minute through Mubarak Rabe, whose clinical finish marked his 11th goal in just four matches in the tournament. Hyperbuzz FC responded shortly after the break when Sunday Elijah powered home a header in the 51st minute to restore parity.

Hyperbuzz FC took the lead just after the hour mark as Ridwan Yusuf produced a stunning long-range strike to make it 2–1. However, JNR Danburan refused to back down and were rewarded in the 69th minute when Aminu Abduljalil reacted quickest to a goalmouth scramble to draw his side level once again.

With neither team able to find a decisive winner in regulation time, the match proceeded to a penalty shootout. Despite missing their opening kick, Hyperbuzz FC showed remarkable composure, converting all six subsequent penalties. JNR Danburan converted five of their attempts, handing Hyperbuzz FC a narrow but memorable victory.

For their triumph, Hyperbuzz FC were awarded ₦2.5 million, while runners-up JNR Danburan received ₦1.5 million. Both teams enjoyed outstanding campaigns, finishing the group stage unbeaten and collectively scoring 18 goals across the competition.

The final served as a fitting climax to the 2025 MTN NLO Cup, underlining the growing quality, competitiveness, and excitement of grassroots football in Nigeria.
