I Got Super Eagles Job On Merit – Chelle Sampson Adedeji Super Eagles head coach, Eric Sekou Chelle, has asserted that his appointment was based purely on merit, not through any external influence, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The French-born tactician was named head coach of the three-time African champions following the departure of interim boss Austin Eguavoen.

Speaking with CANAL+ Sports Afrique, Chelle revealed that he went through the same application and interview process as any other candidate.

“When I left the Malian team, the NFF issued a call for applications, and I applied like any other coach. Then came the interview,” Chelle explained.

“I was invited to a coaches’ conference where I presented my project, vision, and philosophy. I thought things would move faster, but due to certain events, I had to wait—so I left.

“I went to Rouen, but then this opportunity came up again, and I knew I might lose it if I didn’t act. So I came back—for this great project,” he added.
