Super Eagles and Orlando Pirates defender Olisa Ndah has said he was expected to be named the captain of the team, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Ndah has had a great start to the 2024/25 campaign, finding the back of the net once in Bucs’ five matches so far. With Bucs captain Innocent Maela often starting games from the bench, Ndah has been leading the team. " I think it’s an opportunity; I’m really excited about it,” he told Centerkick. " I wasn’t expecting it at all. It’s just an opportunity given to me by the club, which I really appreciate", he said Ndah’s club form has earned him a recall to Nigeria and he made his first appearance in 17 months, when the Super Eagles defeated Benin 3-0 in the opening match of their Africa Cup of Nations qualification, coming off the bench in the second half.
