Nigerian striker Taiwo Awoniyi has pledged his full commitment to helping Nottingham Forest avoid relegation from the Premier League this season, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
The Super Eagles forward, who has been hampered by injuries throughout the campaign, acknowledged that the final stretch of the season will be decisive for the club’s survival.
Nottingham Forest have been inconsistent all season and currently find themselves in a tense battle to remain in the top flight, with only a few matches remaining.
Speaking ahead of the run-in, Awoniyi emphasised the importance of a united team effort as Forest prepare for their survival push.
“I think these last seven games will be vital for the club. It’s not just about me; it’s about the entire squad. Everyone understands our position and what is required of us,” he said.
The former Union Berlin forward also reflected on the wider consequences of relegation, which extend far beyond the football pitch.
“A relegation battle is something you never want to experience. When you consider the business side of the game, many people could lose their jobs, and the fans will be devastated.
" My only focus is doing whatever I can to make people happy. I will give my absolute best,” Awoniyi added.
Awoniyi’s return to full fitness is expected to be a timely boost for Forest as they fight to secure the points needed to preserve their Premier League status.
