ITTF Championship: Nigeria Clinches World Youth Championship Spot

Nigeria have booked their place at the 2025 ITTF World Youth Championships in Romania after triumphing in the boys’ U-19 team event at the ongoing African Youth Championships, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Competing at the Molade Okoya-Thomas Hall, Teslim Balogun Stadium, the Nigerian team staged a remarkable comeback from a 0-2 deficit in the semifinals to edge Egypt 3-2, before overcoming Tunisia by the same margin in a thrilling final.

Despite Tunisia’s Wassim Essid defeating both Matthew Kuti and Abdulbasit Abdulfatai, Nigeria sealed the title as Abdulfatai produced a dominant 3-0 win over Mohamed Khaloufi in the decisive match.

The victory marks Nigeria’s return to the top of the African youth table tennis after missing out in 2024, while Egypt and Algeria settled for bronze.
