Indefinite Suspension for Three Nigerian Referees Following Alleged Misconduct

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Referees Committee has suspended three referees indefinitely following alleged misconduct in Week 8 matches of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Referee Mohammed B. Tuta from Adamawa and Assistant Referee Ben Japhet of Benue, who officiated the Kano Pillars versus Shooting Stars game, were sanctioned for “acting in manners outside the provisions of the laws of the game and bringing the game into disrepute,” according to a letter signed by Ameenu Mohammed, Secretary of the NFF Referees Committee.

In a separate incident, referee Ikechukwu Taiwo from Rivers State, who officiated the Nasarawa versus Rangers match, was suspended for awarding an “unjustified penalty,” as stated by the committee.

The NFF Referees Committee has imposed indefinite suspensions on all three officials as part of efforts to uphold the integrity and standards of officiating in Nigerian football.
