Injury Knocks Ashleigh Plumptre Out of Action Until 2023

Super Falcons defender Ashleigh Plumptre missed Leicester City’s clash with Chelsea at King Power Stadium due to injury, the club confirmed.

The centre-back is nursing a hamstring injury and coach Willie Kirk wasn’t willing to risk the 24-year-old for the game.

Leicester also confirmed that Plumptre will miss the rest of the year, but could return to competitive football early January.

Meanwhile, the Foxes suffered in Plumptre’s absence as they were battered 8-0 by the visiting Chelsea.

Guro Reiten opened the scoring inside the opening few minutes, before Jessie Fleming made it 2-0 shortly after.

Chelsea continue to dominate and Kirby, Niamh Charles and Sam Kerr all got on the score sheet.

Fleming added her second of the afternoon shortly in the second half, Beth England later made it seven with a bullet header on 75 minutes.

Kirby then rounded off the performance with her second goal of the game with minutes left on the clock.
