When English Championship club Watford FC play their first league game under a new manager Slaven Bilic it will surely be without Nigeria's Super Eagles defender William Troost-Ekong, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The Hornets in the week announced the appointment of the former Croatia international after the sacking of Rob Edwards as the manager of the team.

The Nigeria international was in the national camp for the friendly match against the Desert Foxes of Algeria when the appointment was made.

He returned to the club immediately after he was ruled out of the game against Algeria due to the hamstring injury he sustained in the game against the Algeria B team.

Watford will play against Stoke City on Sunday and it has been confirmed that Ekong will miss the match as he is scheduled to return to the team in mid-October.
