Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen is expected to make his comeback in next week’s UEFA Champions League clash against Eintracht Frankfurt, easing fears of a lengthy layoff for the Turkish champions, BENSports.com.ng reports.
According to Kemerburgaz, Osimhen will miss this weekend’s league trip to Eyüpspor as a precaution, with the club prioritising his full recovery ahead of the Frankfurt encounter on Thursday evening.
The Nigeria international sustained an ankle injury while on duty for the Super Eagles in a World Cup qualifier against Rwanda.
He was forced off in the 35th minute after collapsing in visible pain, sparking concern in Istanbul over his availability for key fixtures.
Galatasaray responded swiftly, dispatching a private jet to fly the forward back to Turkey for medical evaluation. Initial scans revealed a moderate sprain with bleeding in the ankle ligaments.
A statement released by team doctor Yener İnce confirmed the diagnosis, adding that treatment had already begun to speed up Osimhen’s return.
“Tests conducted at our sponsor hospital revealed a moderate sprain with bleeding in the ankle ligaments of our player Victor Osimhen".
"Treatment has begun to ensure his return to the pitch as soon as possible,” the statement read.
If his recovery progresses as planned, Osimhen is set to spearhead Galatasaray’s attack in Frankfurt next Thursday.
