West Bromwich Albion manager Tony Mowbray has confirmed that Nigerian international and Super Eagles defender Semi Ajayi will be out for several weeks due to injury, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Ajayi, who had only recently returned from injury, featured in last weekend’s match against Oxford United but was forced off after just 41 minutes.

Mowbray expressed his disappointment over the setback, stating that the defender will now undergo rehabilitation.

"It's disappointing for him, frustrating for him and for us," Mowbray told BBC Radio WM.

"He's got all the qualities to be a talented player. His mobility in defence has allowed us to play a higher line in recent games, keeping the opposition further from our goal. He'll be a loss, but we wish him a speedy recovery and will move forward with the fit players available."

Ajayi’s availability for Nigeria’s 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda and Zimbabwe remains uncertain.
