Inside Super Eagles' Revival: Moses Simon Explains Chelle’s Winning Formula

By Admin

Nigeria’s vice-captain, Moses Simon, has credited the Super Eagles’ recent consistency to the tactical discipline instilled by head coach Eric Chelle, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The Super Eagles extended their impressive run with a 2–1 victory over Iran national football team in a four-nation invitational tournament in Turkey. Simon opened the scoring, while Jerome Akor played a decisive role in the build-up to Nigeria’s second goal.

Speaking after the match, Simon pointed to Chelle’s structured approach as the foundation of the team’s unbeaten run in open play since the coach’s appointment.

“Our approach to games has changed,” Simon said. “Every player is expected to contribute defensively, and when we attack, we do so as a unit. The coach’s philosophy is clear: if we cannot win, then we must not lose.”

The winger stressed that discipline, tactical awareness, and physical intensity are now non-negotiable requirements for players seeking a place in the squad. According to him, adherence to these principles has significantly improved the team’s balance and resilience.

Simon also highlighted Chelle’s preferred tactical setup, particularly the use of a diamond formation. The system, he explained, allows Nigeria to deploy multiple attacking options without compromising defensive solidity.

The Super Eagles will aim to extend their strong form when they face Jordan national football team in their next fixture of the tournament.
