According to the update coming from the camp of the Nigeria's Super Falcons ahead of the International friendly matches against Canada, defender Onome Ebi is set to be named the new captain of the team, BSNsports.com.ng gathered.

FC Barcelona Feminino striker Asisat Oshoala has been leading the team since 2019 when then-coach Chris Danjuma stripped Desire Oparanozie of the armband.

The report suggests that there is no bad blood between the team but the team leaders believed that the role of leadership is weighing down the performance of Oshoala in the team.

Former Rivers Angels attacker has been in scintillating form for the Catalan based club with 19 goals in 16 matches but last scored for Nigeria in 2021 against Equatoria Guinea.

Ebi who has the record of African highest appearances at the World Cup will now be the new skipper of the team and will assisted by CSKA Moscow's Fransisca Ordega.

Super Falcons will face Canadians in the first leg on Friday in Vancouver then on Monday in Langford.
