Iran head coach Amir Ghalenoei has admitted the quality and superiority of the Super Eagles players following their defeat to Nigeria, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
The Nigerian national team secured a 2-1 victory over Iran in an international friendly encounter played in Antalya, Turkey.
Despite the loss, Ghalenoei acknowledged the strength and physicality of the Nigerian side, noting that the match served as a valuable test for his team.
“I think this was a very useful preparation game, especially since we were able to implement Plan B in defense against a strong and physical team like Nigeria,” Ghalenoei stated.
The Iranian tactician went further to praise the pedigree of the Nigerian squad, highlighting their presence in top European leagues.
“Nigeria is a very good team, and all eleven players in this squad are active in major European leagues such as Spain, Italy, England, France, Greece, and Turkey,” he added.
The friendly forms part of both teams’ preparations for upcoming international competitions, with Nigeria taking positives from the hard-fought victory while Iran continues to fine-tune its squad.
