International Friendly: Japan Edge Super Falcons In Kobe
Despite putting up a spirited performance, former World champions Japan got the better of Nigeria's Super Falcons in an international friendly in Kobe, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
The match was organised to put both teams in shape for the upcoming 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup that will be staged by Australia and New Zealand.
The game started with high intensity with former African champions taking the game to their host.
Super Falcons lost one of their key midfielders Christy Ucheibe who was stretched off in the 39th minute and was replaced by Vivian Chukwuemeka.
The host seized control of the game in the second half and pressed the Nigerians high in their half.
Their efforts paid off later in the game with Mina Tanaka netting the opening goal through set-pieces.
She completed her brace from the spot after they were awarded a controversial penalty which gave the Japanese a comfortable 2-0 win over Nigeria.
