International Friendly: Nigeria Is Our Rival - Mexico Coach

Ahead of the International match against the Super Eagles, the manager of the El Tri of Mexico, Geraldo Martino, has tagged Nigeria as one of their rivals, BSNsports.com.ng report

For the second time in 7 months, Super Eagles and Mexico will come face to face in an international friendly.

The two teams met in late 2021 and it was Mexico that emerge victorious 4-0.

During a pre-match conference, Martino said Nigeria is not just an African country but a rival to their ambitions.

" Regarding the match, first there is a question that has to do with us – recover the level of play that we have lost since the middle of last year, one cannot always manage to play with rivals that you want to simulate, as would be the ones we would like to face in each of the matches we have between now and the World Cup,” Martino.

“Indeed, Doe is not playing against any African team, but Nigeria is still a great rival and we have a lot of things to improve, regardless of the opponent,” he told Mexican media.

Nigeria and Mexico have met 5 times with the North American country winning twice and drawing 3 others.
