International Friendly: Randy Waldrum Joins Team In Japan

Ahead of the international friendly against Japan, head coach Randy Waldrum has joined the team's training in Japan, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The team technical crew which is based at home departed on Saturday morning and landed in Japan on Monday alongside the invited home-based players.

Two players Peace Efih and Ucheibe Christy joined the team on Monday evening as they continued their preparation.

According to an update from the team's camp in Japan, the United States gaffer Waldrum and his assistant Lauren Gregg have joined the team.

Four players: goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie, Ifeoma Onumonu, Michelin Alozie and Ashleigh Plumptre have also joined the team to increase the number of players in camp to 12.

Alhaji Adam Mouktar Mohammed, Chairman of Federal Capital Territory Football Association has congratulated the newly elected President of Nigeria Football Federation, Alh. Ibrahim Musa Gusau even as he charged him to revitalize the game that has dwindled in recent years. 

Mohammed also expressed optimism that the new NFF Executive Committee will take football affairs more seriously and treat it as a business venture that must grow to be the best on and off the pitch. 

"I believe that football is not just a sport but a business. I hope the new board takes the affairs of football seriously as we have seen it plummet to an abysmally low level and need revitalization urgently. They should exploit the business side of football vigorously.

"I trust the new President to harmonize the football family by bringing everyone together for the development of football. He should listen to the aggrieved members of the family and resolve whatever their grievances are so that football wins always. 

"There is no need for rancour in the ranks of the football family, we should be one happy family united for the development and progress of football. I urge Gusau to go about the business of managing Nigeria Football the same way he did with FA Chairmen over the years. He should remain humble and committed as usual."

Mohammed, one of the presidential candidates in the September 30, 2022 election in Benin City stepped down shortly be the commencement of voting.
