International Friendly: Yira Sor Reacts To Super Eagles Call-Up

Newly invited Super Eagles winger Yira Sor has expressed his surprise and excitement following his maiden call-up to the Nigerian national team, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The KRC Genk forward is among the fresh faces included in the squad for the upcoming international friendlies against Iran and Jordan.

Speaking on his invitation, Sor admitted that the call-up came as an unexpected development but described it as a proud moment in his career.

“It was really a shock for me to be very honest, but thank God for everything. To represent Nigeria, over more than 200 million people, is something I really see to be an honour. It’s a privilege that I must not take for granted, and I have to push to the maximum,” he said.

The winger also reflected on how quickly his fortunes have changed, revealing that he was recently among the fans supporting the team during the Africa Cup of Nations.

“Just two months ago, during the AFCON, I was watching the team on television, and I was nervous. Every game they played, I was supporting the team, and two months later, I got a call-up to join this squad,” Sor added.

Sor previously represented Nigeria at youth level, featuring for the Flying Eagles at the FIFA U-20 World Cup in Poland, and will now be looking to make his mark at senior level with the Super Eagles.
