FIFA has officially unveiled Islana as the mascot for the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup set to take place in Poland later this year, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Poland will host the 12th edition of the tournament in September, where some of the world’s brightest young female football talents are expected to compete on the global stage.

According to FIFA, Islana is inspired by the rusalki from Slavic mythology and is portrayed as a guardian of nature with a playful and uplifting personality.

Raised in the forest and around lakes, the mascot represents curiosity, courage and youthful energy.

FIFA added that Islana developed her love for movement and games from an early age, showcasing speed, balance and skill while interacting with other young spirits.

The mascot is expected to play a major role in promoting the competition and welcoming fans, players and officials from across the world to Poland for the tournament.
