Former Nigeria's Super Eagles defender Abbey George has described playing for Super Eagles as one of the most difficult things to do, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The former Macclesfield Town defender made the statement during an Instagram chat with Naijafootballer and further said the Super Eagles shirt is heavy.

He also spoke about the issues of home and foreign-based players.

" It doesn't matter where you are born or come from its about the results.

"If the result is good everyone is happy but if the result is bad the players born abroad take the blame.

"Even the home-based players that we are talking about, if they get invited and they played well the foreign club scout them and they go away.

"I have always said before any player could play for Nigeria, they should be tried in a friendly game not in a World Cup qualifier or competitive game.

"It doesn't matter where you are playing either Chelsea or Liverpool etc international football is different and playing for Nigeria is difficult.

"The Super Eagles shirt is heavy, if they start from the friendly matches they can grow themselves", he told Naijafootballer.

George who was part of the Super Eagles team at the 2004 African Cup of Nations in Tunisia has 18 caps for Nigeria.
