Italian Serie A: Atalanta Boss Justifies Lookman's SubstitutionÂ
Sampson Adedeji
Manager of the Italian Serie A side Atalanta, Gian Piero Gasperini has defended his decision to replace Nigeria's Super Eagles winger Ademola Lookman against AC Milan last weekend, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
The Nigerian International was the hero of the game in Bergamo and scored twice to propel Atalanta to a 3-2 victory.
He was subbed off by the coach and the club fans booed and criticized the coach for the decision.
Gasperini has come out to justify the decision and hopes Lookman will continue with the form.
" Replacement of Lookman? There were some whistles but Muriel was great at turning them into applause.
“He scored an extraordinary goal; next time we’ll think twice about booing him. He often scores these goals in training; I’m very happy for him", he told Tutto
Lookman has six goals and two assists in 15 Serie A games this season.
