Nigeria’s Super Eagles and Udinese goalkeeper, Maduka Okoye, has expressed deep disappointment following their 3-0 defeat to Bologna in a Serie A match played on Saturday evening, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Despite producing a brilliant moment in the game by saving a penalty, the former Watford shot-stopper admitted he was far from satisfied with the overall outcome and his personal performance.

Speaking to the club’s official website after the match, Okoye said: "I’m happy with the penalty saved, but not with the match, which we started well anyway. That’s football: I saved a penalty but then I made a mistake on the second goal. We need to move forward and analyze the good and bad things we did today.”

The 25-year-old also reacted to criticism about Udinese’s defensive struggles this season.

“Are we the worst defence? We often take risks; that’s our football. We win, but we also lose like that. We need to improve defensively, myself first.”

Okoye stressed the importance of regrouping ahead of their next fixture as Udinese continues their battle to climb out of the lower end of the Serie A table.
