Nigeria’s Super Eagles and Udinese goalkeeper, Maduka Okoye, endured a difficult afternoon on Sunday as his side were thrashed 5-1 by Fiorentina in a Serie A clash, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

It was a double blow for the Nigerian international, who was shown a red card as early as the 7th minute of the encounter, leaving Udinese with a mountain to climb for almost the entire match.

Following Okoye’s early dismissal, Fiorentina took full control of the game, piling pressure on the visitors and scoring five goals.

Udinese could only manage a consolation strike as they were comprehensively outplayed in Florence.

The humiliating defeat compounds a tough period for Okoye, who recently dropped out of the Super Eagles squad for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.

Udinese will now look to regroup quickly as they aim to put the setback behind them in their remaining Serie A fixtures.
