Italian Serie A: Udinese Coach Gives Opinion On Okoye
Sampson Adedeji
Udinese head coach Kosta Runjaic has praised the performance of Super Eagles goalkeeper Maduka Okoye following his impressive display in their 3-2 victory over Lecce, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
Okoye, who returned to action after nearly two months without competitive football, played a vital role in ensuring Udinese secured all three points.
His key saves and composure between the sticks proved crucial in the hard-fought Serie A encounter. Speaking after the game, Runjaic acknowledged the difficulty of Okoye’s situation but lauded his mental strength and contribution to the team’s success.
“Okoye hasn’t played for two months, he’s only been on the pitch in training. I think it’s not an easy situation for anyone,” Runjaic told Calciomercato.
“He didn’t have much to do in the first half, but despite that, we need to maintain the right level of concentration. I still have to review the goals, but Okoye tried to give his all his best. It’s a success that gives an important boost on a psychological level.”
Okoye’s performance is expected to further strengthen his claim for the club’s number-one spot and boost his confidence ahead of Udinese’s next league fixture.
