Iwobi Injured In Fulham Draw Against Brentford, Doubtful For Unity Cup

The availability of Alex Iwobi for the upcoming Unity Cup has been thrown into doubt after the midfielder sustained an injury during Fulham FC’s goalless draw against Brentford FC, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The Nigerian international started the encounter but was forced off before full-time after appearing to suffer a hamstring injury while chasing a forward pass. 

His inability to continue raised immediate concerns for both club and country.

Iwobi was subsequently replaced by fellow Nigerian Samuel Chukwueze as Fulham settled for a 0-0 draw in the tightly contested fixture.

The development is a potential setback for Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle, who had been counting on the midfielder’s experience and creativity ahead of the Unity Cup.

Further medical assessment is expected to determine the extent of the injury and whether Iwobi will recover in time to feature in the competition.
