In a thrilling 2-0 victory at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Ikorodu City triumphed over league leaders Rivers United, ending their nine-game unbeaten streak, reports BSNSports.com.ng.
The 'Oga Boy's united team effort saw the squad rise to the challenge, with goalkeeper James Faith playing a crucial role in securing a clean sheet against the league leader.
Faith, who joined Ikorodu City this season from Sporting Lagos, has a wealth of experience, having played for clubs like Remo Stars, Shooting Stars, Lobi Stars, and Wikki Tourists.
This clean sheet was his second of the season, the first coming in an earlier away draw with Kwara United.
Faith’s recent journey hasn’t been without setbacks. Just four weeks ago, an injury forced him to the sidelines, and though he had only recently regained full fitness, he was initially set to begin the game on the bench.
However, an unexpected injury to Aina Oluwadamilare during warm-ups propelled Faith back into the starting lineup.
Rising to the occasion, he delivered a composed performance, making decisive saves and contributing to a memorable team victory.
As Ikorodu City builds on this result, Faith’s return adds stability and confidence to their backline, a promising sign as they continue their league campaign with high ambitions.
