Janny Sikazwe to officiate CAF Confederation Cup final in Uyo

Zambian referee Janny Sikazwe will be at the centre of this Friday’s CAF Confederation Cup final between South African giants Orlando Pirates and RS Berkane of Morocco in Nest Of Champion, Uyo, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) took to Facebook to confirm the development.

Sikazwe will be joined by Angolan Jerson Emiliano Dos Santos as first assistant while Mozambican Arsenio Chadreque Maringule will be the second assistant.

Botswana referee Joshua Bondo will serve as the fourth official while Egyptian Mahmoud Ashor will be the Video Assistant Referee for the match with his compatriots Mahmoud Abouelregal and Mahmoud Elbana competing the video crew.

CAF has set Nigeria’s Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo as the venue for this highly anticipated clash.

The Kapiri Mposhi man is not new to the big stage.

Sikazwe refereed the 2016 FIFA Club World Cup Final in Japan between Real Madrid and Kashima Antlers.

In 2017, The Kapiri Mposhi born became the first Zambian to take charge of the Africa Cup of Nations final. Sikazwe refereed Cameroon’s 2-1 over Egypt.

In 2018 – June – First ever Zambian referee to take charge of a game at a World Cup, controlling the whistle in two World Cup 2018 group games – Belgium vs Panama and Japan vs Poland.
