The nominees for Belgium’s prestigious Ebony Shoe award have been officially announced, with Super Eagles stars Tolu Arokodare and Raphael Onyedika making the shortlist, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Arokodare, currently the top scorer in the Jupiler Pro League with 20 goals, is widely seen as the frontrunner for the award. The 24-year-old forward has doubled his tally from last season and also made his debut for the Nigerian national team during the March window of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

Raphael Onyedika has also enjoyed a standout season. The Club Brugge midfielder shone both domestically and in the UEFA Champions League, further cementing his place in Nigeria’s Super Eagles squad.

Joining the Nigerian duo on the shortlist are Morocco’s Zakaria El Ouahdi, DR Congo’s Noah Sadiki, and Canadian international Promise David—who previously represented Nigeria at youth level.

The 2024 winner will be revealed on May 12.

Last year’s award went to Togolese striker Kévin Denkey for his prolific season with Cercle Brugge. Former Morocco international Mbark Boussoufa remains the record holder with three Ebony Shoe awards, earned during his time at Gent and Anderlecht.
