Kabiru Amadu Applauds Eagles’ Algeria Victory, Demands Strategic Focus For Morocco

The Chairman of the House Committee on Sports, Hon. Kabiru Amadu, has congratulated the Super Eagles of Nigeria on their qualification for the semi-finals of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), while urging the players and technical crew to remain focused as the tournament enters a decisive stage, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Nigeria on Saturday evening secured a 2–0 victory over Algeria in their quarter-final encounter, with goals from Victor Osimhen and Akor Adams early in the second half sealing the win.

The Algerians proved resilient in the first half, frustrating the Super Eagles despite Nigeria creating several clear-cut chances that went unconverted. However, the Nigerian side returned stronger after the break, asserting their dominance and finding the breakthrough that secured passage to the semi-finals.

Reacting to the result, Hon. Amadu, popularly known as Mai Palace, praised the players and coaching crew for their commanding performance against a tough Algerian side. He, however, cautioned against prolonged celebration, stressing the need for immediate preparation for the next challenge.

According to the Gusau/Tsafe Federal Constituency representative, the team must quickly return to the drawing board and re-strategize ahead of their semi-final showdown against host nation Morocco.

“The Super Eagles have once again put smiles on the faces of millions of Nigerians by qualifying for the semi-finals of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations after defeating Algeria,” Amadu said.

“However, the job is not yet done. The further you go in a competition like this, the tougher it becomes. To emerge champions, the team must be ready to defeat the very best until the trophy is finally lifted.”

He further assured the team of the National Assembly’s full support, noting that lawmakers are working closely with the Federal Government to ensure that players and officials are adequately rewarded should the Super Eagles go on to win the 2025 AFCON title.

Meanwhile, Morocco booked their place in the semi-finals after a 2–0 victory over Cameroon, setting up a highly anticipated clash with Nigeria.

The semi-final match between Nigeria and Morocco will take place at the Rabat Stadium on Wednesday, January 14, 2025.
