It was a memorable double triumph for Kaduna’s hockey giants, Kada Stars and Kada Queens, as both teams successfully defended their titles to emerge champions of the 2025 National Hockey Super League, which concluded on Sunday at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The week-long championship, held from November 1 to 9, brought together 23 teams male and female from across Nigeria, delivering a festival of skill, speed, and sporting excellence that highlighted the continued growth of hockey in the country.

In a tense men’s final, Kada Stars overcame their long-time rivals Police Machine in a 3–2 penalty shootout following a hard-fought goalless draw in regulation time. The defending champions held their composure under pressure to secure back-to-back titles and further extend their dominance in the domestic hockey scene.

Earlier in the women’s final, Kada Queens underlined their superiority once again with a 2–0 victory over Plateau Queens, capping another unbeaten campaign. In the third-place match, Delta Queens edged Yobe Queens 4–1 on penalties to clinch the bronze medal.

With their victories, Kada Stars, Kada Queens, and their respective runners-up Police Machine and Plateau Queens have earned the honour of representing Nigeria at the Africa Cup for Club Champions (ACCC), scheduled to take place in Harare, Zimbabwe, from January 24 to 31, 2026.

The 2025 edition of the National Hockey Super League once again reaffirmed Kaduna State’s dominance in Nigerian hockey, as both Kada teams continue to set the standard for consistency, discipline, and excellence in the sport.
