Kaduna To Rebuild Ahmadu Bello Stadium To FIFA Standards, Expand Capacity By 32,000 Seats

Kaduna State Government has announced plans to comprehensively rebuild the iconic Ahmadu Bello Stadium to meet FIFA standards, in a major infrastructural project aimed at transforming the 61-year-old facility into a world-class sporting arena, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Governor Uba Sani disclosed that the redevelopment will include the addition of 32,000 new seats, significantly increasing the stadium’s capacity and making it Nigeria’s second-largest stadium after the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja.

According to the governor, the project is part of a broader strategy to modernise sports infrastructure in the state and reposition Kaduna as a major sporting hub in Northern Nigeria.

He further revealed that, upon completion, the upgraded Ahmadu Bello Stadium will serve as the North-West headquarters of the National Institute for Sports (NIS), strengthening Kaduna’s role in sports development, talent grooming and professional training across the region.

The redevelopment of the historic stadium, which has hosted several national and international sporting events over the decades, is expected to boost sports tourism, create jobs and enhance Kaduna’s capacity to host major competitions and programmes.
