By Gbenga Gboyega
The newly appointed Chairman of Enyimba International Football Club - Kanu Nwankwo has given the directive for all members of staff within the club to reapply for their respective positions within 48 hours, BSNSports.com.ng can report.
The directive was issued in the early hours of Monday 17th July 2023 via an official statement signed by the Club's Sporting Director - Ifeanyi Ekwueme, on behalf of the Chairman.
The statement which was titled: APPLICATION FOR RE-ABSORPTION INTO ENYIMBA MANAGEMENT, sent shocking waves through the football world as a 48-hour ultimatum was issued to ensure compliance.
It is uncertain if the directive will include the Head Coach - Finidi George and his assistant Yemi "Yema" Olarenwaju, who have their contracts expired after the just concluded season, with Finidi reported to be in extension talks with the club's management following a successful 2023 Abridged League campaign.
BSNSports reached out to the assistant coach Yema, who is currently on holiday with his family, as he claimed not to be aware of the current directive due to his "out of office" status this summer.
"I Dey on a break with my family and I only want to maximize this time with them," Yema responded when asked about the rationale behind the directive.
"When football starts, then we will start work. I have switched off from football for now. I don’t know what is happening for now," he added.
Club statement in full:"To all the Management, staff, and Technical Crew of Enyimba FC's 1st and 2nd Teams,
"You are hereby instructed by this notice to reapply for your positions in the club with immediate effect.
"Note: All applications should be submitted to the club's TMS manager within 48 hours.
"Thanks for your usual corporation."
