Kastina United's Victor Mbaoma Tipped To Dazzle In NPL Next Season
By Gbenga Gboyega
Katsina United's striker, Victor Mbaoma has become the rave of the moment following his lethal performance for the Changi Boys at the Nigeria National League, with more uncertainties surrounding his future domestically or abroad, bsnsports.com.ng reports.
The 26-year-old endured a torrid spell up north of the continent following his move from reigning NPFL champions Enyimba International to Mouloudia Club d'Alger of Algeria in the summer of 2022, where he could feature only six times in five months, bagging only one assist.
He later moved to Asia in the winter of 2023, where he scored only once in 11 games for Uzbekistan club FC Qizilqum in the O'Zbekiston Superligasi, before having a barren run in the Uzbekistan Cup.
Mbaoma returned to the domestic scene in June to join Katsina United as he featured predominantly in all three Promotional Playoff games, scoring all four goals for Katsina United including both goals in the 2-1 win over DMD FC, the only goal in the 2-1 loss to EFCC FC, plus the lone goal in the 1-0 win over Kano Pillars.
Mbaoma is no newbie to the Nigeria Football League, following his rich history playing for elite clubs like Akwa United, Remo Stars, and Enyimba International, scoring 61 goals across all three clubs while racking up 8 assists alongside.
The Changi Boys of Katsina will hope to keep Mbaoma's services as they return to the Nigeria Premier League for next season, with offers already pouring in from scouts abroad.
