The Football Federation of Kenya (FKF) has finalized plans to appoint former South African football star Benni McCarthy as the new head coach of the Harambee Stars, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The ex-Manchester United assistant coach has been in talks with FKF over the past few months, and it appears that the deal is now agreed upon and ready for finalization.

However, delays in McCarthy's official unveiling have been caused by FKF's internal processes, as well as legal challenges from former coach Engin Firat, who is seeking unpaid dues.

Kenya is set to co-host the 2024 Championship of African Nations (CHAN) alongside Tanzania and Uganda, and the tournament is expected to be McCarthy’s first major assignment with the Harambee Stars.
