The Bet9ja Foundation has committed ₦40 million towards the 2026 edition of the Ex-Internationals Cup, providing a major boost for a tournament designed to celebrate Nigeria’s football legends and inspire future generations, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The sponsorship reflects growing recognition of the competition as an important platform for preserving Nigeria’s football heritage while promoting youth development through the game.

Organisers revealed that the support followed the success of the inaugural edition, which impressed officials of the Bet9ja Foundation and encouraged the organisation to expand its involvement for the 2026 tournament.

The partnership was facilitated through the support of Bet9ja Chairman, Hon. Kunle Soname, whose continued investment in Nigerian football has earned widespread praise across the sports community.

According to the organisers, Soname welcomed the proposal before recommending the initiative to the Bet9ja Foundation, where Executive Director Gloria Ada Cuomo and Marketing Manager Omotola Oronti endorsed the vision of using football history to create a lasting legacy.

The organisers also acknowledged the role of several strategic meetings and discussions in aligning the objectives of both parties ahead of the 2026 competition.

Reacting to the development, Chairman of the Lagos State Football Association, Hajji Gafar, expressed appreciation to the foundation and Soname for their commitment to the tournament.

Defending champions FC Nwosu are expected to return for the tournament as they aim to retain their title in what organisers promise will be an expanded and more impactful edition.
