Kurt Okraku Resigns As WAFU B President

Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku has officially announced his resignation as President of the West African Football Union Zone B (WAFU B), BSNSports.com.ng reports.

This follows his recent elevation to the role of 2nd Vice-President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF).

His decision also stems from the increasing responsibilities associated with his ongoing role as President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA).

Okraku, who has been at the helm of WAFU B with distinction, acknowledged the honour of serving the region but stressed that his expanding commitments at both national and continental levels demand his full focus.

“I believe in giving my best to every responsibility I hold. With the scope of my duties now significantly broadened, it’s become challenging to meet that standard in all areas,” he stated.

He further revealed that the transition process will begin shortly: “In the coming days, I will initiate the handover of the WAFU Zone B presidency to a new leader who I trust will uphold the progress we’ve made—especially the peace and unity we’ve fostered in the region.”

During his tenure, WAFU B experienced significant strides in development, regional integration, and strategic planning.

This included the relocation of the permanent Secretariat and the rollout of impactful initiatives.

Okraku also played a key role in strengthening collaboration among member associations, helping maintain WAFU B’s strong presence in African football governance.
