Kwara United Survive Scare as Tornadoes, Katsina United Exit President Federation Cup

The 2026 President Federation Cup Round of 64 produced several major upsets on Tuesday, with Nigeria Premier Football League sides Niger Tornadoes and Katsina United among the high-profile teams eliminated, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
Former champions Niger Tornadoes suffered a surprise 2-1 defeat to Sunshine Stars U-19, ending their campaign at the preliminary stage of the competition. The Minna-based side, winners of the tournament in 2000 and runners-up in 2017, became one of the biggest casualties of the round.
Katsina United also crashed out after losing 3-1 on penalties to Sapele Lions following a thrilling 2-2 draw in regulation time.
In Aba, Rangers International survived a difficult test against Nigeria National League side Godswill Akpabio FC, securing a narrow 1-0 victory to advance to the Round of 32.
Defending champions Kwara United were pushed to the limit by Sporting Supreme before eventually progressing via penalties. The match ended 2-2 in regulation time, with Kwara United prevailing 4-2 in the shootout.
Elsewhere, Enyimba delivered one of the most dominant performances of the day with a convincing 4-0 win over El Sharma FC, while Plateau United edged Ahudiannem FC 2-1.
Enugu-based Ingas FC also booked their place in the next round with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Edel FC.
