La Liga Bans Sadiq Umar

Super Eagles forward, Sadiq Umar will miss Valencia La Liga next match versus Espanyol on Tuesday after receiving a yellow card on Saturday.

Nigerian forward Sadiq Umar came off the bench to rescue a point for Valencia as they played out a 1-1 draw against Rayo Vallecano in Saturday’s La Liga clash at the Estadio de Vallecas.

Since joining Valencia, the Super Eagles forward has scored seven goals and provided one assist, establishing himself as a key player for the team. His performance in the second half against Valladolid significantly changed the game, as he scored after collecting a rebound from a shot that hit the post.

However, the Nigerian international faced mixed emotions following an incident during the match that will affect his future participation. Near the end of the game, Sadiq received a yellow card for recklessly striking an opponent with his arm while competing for the ball.

This yellow card was his fifth of the season, resulting in a mandatory suspension. As a consequence, Sadiq Umar will miss Valencia’s crucial home game against Espanyol on Tuesday.

Valencia entered the fixture in excellent form, having won their last three La Liga matches against Mallorca, Real Madrid and Sevilla. The result keeps Los Che in 13th position on 38 points, now just two points behind their 10th-placed opponents.

For Rayo Vallecano, the draw represents another missed opportunity to secure maximum points at home. Inigo Perez’s side has not tasted victory in front of their home supporters since early February, continuing a disappointing run that has seen them win just once in their last eight league outings.
